Lal Komal Indian and Bangladeshi Restaurant

Lal Komal in Oakengates

The Indian & Bangladeshi Restaurant has just undergone a complete transformation. The restaurant in Oxford Street was completely empty when four of us went along as part of a night out in Oakengates. The service was excellent, but then again, the friendly waiters didn't have a lot else to do!

Popadoms and Pickles

Quickly sat down with drinks and the menu, we ordered too many popadoms to eat while we were choosing the rest of the food. Does everyone do that? The popadoms and accompanying pickles, chutneys, onion salad and yoghurt & mint sauces were far too moreish. Following our visit to the Crown and sampling a number of their fine ales and sunstantial whiskey menu, I found it hard to read the menu, but focused enough to order a vegetable bhuna and a peshwari naan.

Curry Choice

The others in the party ordered veg ceylon, something else and a tandoori mixed grill. I didn't each much as the naan and the popadoms filled up the small space left after the beer from the Crown, but what I did eat, tasted good and was well presented. Another drink, and why not, before moving on to Brileighs for more whiskey & beer.

Overall - Very Nice

Nice surroundings, nice staff, nice food. Should be busier, and only £45 for four of us.
